Bald & Beautiful

Thursday, November 18, 2010:
Today, Britney took a big leap in her journey as she decided that it was time to let the hair go. Due to her chemo and radiation treatments, her hair as began to fall out on its own. As a woman, I know that your hair plays a large role in defining who you are, but BB I must say that your strong will and determinate blew my mind today. I cannot believe how well you did during this process. I am truly in aw of how courageous you were during the cutting and styling! Every time I see you, I become more and more humble and appreciate that I can call you my friend. I just wanted to take a few minutes to share some of the pictures from our little photo session  and to thank you for inspiring me. I think that you are not only going to touch my life, but you are going to inspire many! I love you, BB.

Strong, strong woman!

A sister is the best friend that a woman could ever have.

You WILL Beat This Battle

Sunday, November 7, 2010:

One of my good friends, Britney or BB as her family and I call her, is one of the most beautiful women I have ever met. She has such a strong and encouraging spirit. Every time that I am around her she has a glow on her face with a gorgeous smile. Somehow she always finds a way to make me smile no matter what kind of a day it is, but there is one thing that has tried before and is trying again to break her down. It is this nasty, terrible disease called Breast Cancer and years ago it affected her. She had a double masectomy and went into remission. About a month and a half ago when I was at her house she asked me to see what I thought about a lump she found in her breast. Being a nursing student and working on the oncology unit, I was aware of what breast cancer looked and felt like. I felt it and told her that it might be a good idea to go see her oncology physician. The bad news came again and BB was diagnosed with round two of Breast Cancer. When I had received the text from her that was in fact a recurrance of Breast Cancer, I was deeply saddened by the news. Tears started streaming down my face and I knew this was my time to step up to the plate and be here for her now.

One thing that BB had requested was that I helped her with a journal/document through photographs of her progression through this malicious disease. So we started documenting by taking pictures of her with her beautiful hair! To start this process out, here are some pictures that I was able to capture of this GORGEOUS woman and BB, I want you to know that you are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!! You are such an inspiration to me and to so many other women in your life! I am so happy that I can be a part of your life and that I can call you my friend and my sister! You are AMAZING!!!!!!!

You are a stunning woman. I love you, BB.

Indianapolis Museum of Art Fashion Show: Fashion Unbound

A couple of weeks ago, I was able to attend a fashion show at the IMA. My cousin was one of the models and she did a great job! The fashion show was all clothing made from recycled products and the designers did an amazing job! Here are just a few of the outfits that I was able to capture! Enjoy!

This girl was VERY brave. Her dress is made entirely from rubberbands!!!! I thought that this was a really cool concept though and it had to take a long time to complete! Amazing!
The women following the model are the desingers who created this magnificant number!

This is my cousin, Catrina! She is such a beautiful girl with a lot of talent! Keep up the great work! It is really fun to watch you do what you love! I am so proud of you!

This girl had the walk down! She knew how to work it!

This combined outfit had a different concept, but unique to say the least.

This is the designer and the model! Made the crowd laugh a little bit.

This dress was a short black dress and then as the model unzipped it, this is the ending product!

These were my favorite designs! I would definitely wear the yellow one! So cute!

This is was the winning outfit with the designer!

Great job to everyone that was involved in this fashion show! You all did a great job (esp. my cousin--I may be a little bias)! The designs were intersting and great!!! Thanks for allowing me to shoot some pictures of the event!
